127 More Days

One hundred and twenty-seven days.

That’s how many days are left in 2019. That number stopped me in my tracks this morning as I was lamenting about my lack of progress on my reading goal for this year. I was tempted to feel defeated, disappointed, and ready to give up since I am so far off the original pace of my goal.

But then I started to think what might be possible for me to accomplish in the remaining one hundred and twenty-seven days. I started to think about the small changes I want to make to help me get back on track or at the very least, maximize the remainder of my time this year. For me this is means choosing to read a book rather than “vegging out” in front of the TV or scrolling mindlessly on social media. It’s about remembering that I have set a goal to read a minimum of 15 minutes every single day and being intentional to carry that out.

As the start of September comes raging at us, there are still FOUR full months left in the year. This year isn’t over! I am not ready to throw in the towel! We still have ONE THIRD of the year left. This revelation prompted me to think about all my other goals I had set for 2019--- my business goals, my coaching goals, my family goals, and my health goals just to name a few. While I may be far off my reading goals, my coaching goals are actually slightly ahead. I achieved not only one certification this year (my certified professional life coach) as I had planned, but two certifications (my certified group coach mastery), and I’m working towards my third and most difficult, my associated certified coach (ACC) designation from the International Coach Federation. And I have been blessed far beyond any goals I could have imagined for my family this year. So, while I may be disappointed in one goal, there are others that I have flourished in pursuing.

Friends, let me remind you, the year is NOT over. It’s not too late. You can still make progress on your goals, dreams, and the things you want to accomplish this year. Maybe you won’t get as far as you had hoped for the year, but I promise if you give up, you won’t go any farther.

This life is not about perfection, it’s about progress. So, what can you do to maximize and take full advantage of your 127 days? As much as I’d like to continue to ponder and consider all the possibilities left this year, I need to go get my 15 minutes of reading in for today. As Muhammed Ali says, “Don’t count the days, make the days count.” I’m cheering for you!
